WANA (Dec 28) – During the visit of Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, to Beijing at the invitation of Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau and China’s Foreign Minister, the two sides held discussions on the latest state of bilateral relations and regional developments. They reached agreements on the following points:

Both parties assessed the progress made in implementing the provisions of the Iran-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership over recent years as positive. They emphasized their commitment, under the strategic guidance of their leaders, to operationalize the comprehensive cooperation program between the two countries. They also pledged to strengthen the exchange of governance experiences in political and diplomatic, parliamentary, defense and security, law enforcement, judicial, economic, and trade domains.

The foreign ministers stressed enhancing collaborations in the areas of youth, education, sports, science and technology, culture, tourism, environmental protection, health, broadcasting, and people-to-people exchanges between provinces and sister cities.

The two sides also exchanged views on current developments in the Middle East region and highlighted the following principles:

1. The Middle East belongs to its people. It should not serve as a battleground for the rivalries of major powers and must not fall victim to external geopolitical ambitions. The future and destiny of Middle Eastern nations must be determined by their own people.

2. The international community must fully respect the sovereignty, security, stability, unity, and territorial integrity of Middle Eastern countries. It must take into account their legitimate demands, respect the independent decisions of their people, preserve the history, culture, and customs of the region, and play a constructive role in promoting Middle Eastern peace and stability.

3. The path to achieving stability and peace in the Middle East lies in adhering to political solutions, based on international law and without foreign interference.

4. The continuation of the rapprochement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and sustained dialogue among regional countries is supported.

5. Resolving the Palestinian issue requires respecting and restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and ending occupation. The immediate priority is establishing a ceasefire, ensuring a complete military withdrawal from Gaza, and delivering humanitarian aid. The ceasefire agreement in Lebanon must be implemented effectively. Comprehensive efforts should be made in Syria to combat terrorism and extremism, achieve national reconciliation, and deliver humanitarian assistance.
